Facebook users increase by 25 per cent header image

The number of people using Facebook on a daily basis has increased, according to figures from the social networking website.

Some 728 million individuals were active on the site in September, which represents a 25 per cent increase on the same month last year. It received 1.9 billion monthly active users, a rise of 18 per cent compared to 2012.

This has contributed to impressive financial results for Facebook, which saw its revenue grow by 60 per cent to just over $2 billion (£1.25 billion).

The company's net income was $425 million, up from a loss of $59 million in the same period last year.

Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook founder and chief executive, commented: "We're prepared for the next phase of our company, as we work to bring the next five billion people online and into the knowledge economy."
