Meeting to discuss Shetland broadband problems header image

Residents of the Shetlands Islands have been invited to attend a series of meetings that will focus on what can be done to improve the region's broadband services.

Connections on the islands are often slow and unreliable, with local people and businesses struggling with download speeds that are well below the UK average.

Shetland MSP Tavish Scott has urged residents to attend the meetings, which are due to take place in Yell, Unst and Fetlar on August 12th, 13th and 15th respectively.

Writing on his personal website, the Liberal Democrat said: "There is no doubt that poor or unreliable internet access constrains business and prevents consumers using the internet to its full potential."

He claimed that only if the government knows of the areas that are most in need of improvements will it be able to deliver funding.

Are you a resident of Shetland who is tired of waiting for improved internet access? Avonline and satellite broadband can help.
