Virgin Media broadband users in parts of Hampshire have lost connectivity.
Thousands of residents in areas of Portsmouth, Southampton and several nearby towns are without their broadband and TV service after a digger carrying out road works in the county cut through a fibre optic cable.
Furthermore, they may have to wait for two or three days before the connection is restored.
A spokesperson for Virgin apologised for the disruption and said the company's engineers are working to solve the problem as soon as possible.
This is further bad news for the company, which was ranked bottom in ISPreview's list of the best internet service providers in terms of how easy it is to locate contact details for their support services last month.
The website reported that a viable postal address for Virgin's customer support department was very difficult to find and its Twitter, Facebook and live chat services were also hard to track down.
