Slow broadband connections are holding back businesses in Reading, according to a local company.
Andrew Young, managing director of Abbey Windows, said the firm currently struggles with download speeds as slow as 0.5 Mbps and claimed this is limiting potential job creation.
The company has already invested £700,000 in a move to new premises and has hired five new workers, but is hindered by broadband that is so slow it took three hours to upload a video to the firm's website, Get Hampshire reports.
Mr Young was recently visited by the culture secretary Maria Miller to discuss this issue.
He claimed that BT had committed to providing the Portman Road industrial area of Reading - where Abbey Windows is located - with super-fast broadband by October 2012, but there has been no contact from the company ever since the date passed.
