Pershore MP Harriet Baldwin has suggested that dealing with poor ADSL connections in the area should be a priority for 2013, with broadband becoming an increasingly important part of modern life.
The politician added that both local people and businesses could benefit from the rollout of superfast internet access.
"Faster broadband is a critical piece of infrastructure to help Worcestershire succeed in the global economic race," she told the Evesham Observer.
Over the course of 2013, the county council intends to begin distributing broadband funds to rural parishes aimed at helping them pick up superfast access, while homes and businesses in Malvern and Pershore are expected to take advantage of government schemes to get online.
Taking advantage of technology like this "is vital to allowing more businesses to start-up and grow", concluded Ms Baldwin.
The North East Chamber for Commerce recently called for a broadband investment in the region to allow it to reach its economic potential and help the UK as a whole recover.
